Have you invited people to Tribe

and do they ever use it?

Do they fill out their profile, upload a picture, actually sign in now and then?

A few months ago I invited many of the people I know to join Tribe. Some didn't want to join. They had excuses such as not enjoying being on a computer or not having enough time.

But quite a few did join. Of those, only my fiance Dave actually signs in and uses Tribe. Even with prompting about how fun and useful Tribe is my friends never went past the first step or two. Do you all have friends like that, too?

I was initially invited here by friends with whom I have been on many social networks together (some we coded and created ourselves), especially as some of our group are initial developers of this network. Of course, as someone who already participates in online social networks, I was responsive and jumped right in. Probably most of the people that initial inviter invited adopted tribe right away.

Then, as I invited more people, only a few who were already "netters" (people who do online social networks) joined in. Those who were not might have visited, even signed up... but did not adopt. And most never adopted (too busy, don't need another place to be on the web, etc).

My take is, there are people who partake, and people who don't. Kinda like religion or pot or alternative sex...

I've verbally encouraged friends to join tribe...so far, no takers. My friends are either scared of the interactive experience (for some reason), or are on a lot of forums already, and don't want to add any more...

I was at work this morning, working for my very low hourly wage, and the regional managers were there at 6 am, only 1 hour later than the rest of the morning shift. I'd never seen them actually working the store before. I worked along side of them which was good, that they would do the kind of menial tasks their work force did. But the whole time they were discussing which movies they liked, and they had seen so many!, and what clothing they had recently bought, what they wanted to buy next. Even the furniture one of them wanted to buy next. And where they might go out for lunch that day. The whole conversation centered around things to buy! I just kept quiet. On my budget I could choose perhaps one item of clothing for the month, or else splurge on a meal at a restaurant. Some people have no clue. Of course their salary is huge compared to mine. But to talk for hours about what they are spending money on, I just can't relate to people like that.
