How many things are going bad in your fridge right now?

And how long is it gonna take you to get rid of it?

I am sure nothing is in my fridge rotting, I am like a freegan and i waste NOTHING!!!!! The only thing that maybe sour or outdated is a jar of Jam let me check oh no mold , but it is homemade jam so it may be fermenting? it is about a year old. I have rice but that is not refrigerated and it is 3 years old. Does not go bad 20lbs in a bucket of brown rice 10lbs of white. well this is off the topic so later! I am Not a Food Horder!!! I just have alot of Rice in case we have a huge earthquake in Alaska I am slightly ready

I have 17 bottles of beer, half a bottle of Absolute Citron, a two liter of Minute Made lemonaide, a few other less important things of questionable nutritional value. But nothing old. I keep it pretty clean. Once in a while I won't finish milk before it goes old.

Would you believe I read your question and got up to go look?

    Thanks for the reminder!

A small piece of good cheese, in a baggie, that was shoved to the back and went bad

Some leftover chili that I made last week that was good but forgotten (not bad yet but a week is long enough)

Some leftover burrito filling that also is probably okay but it's time for it to go

A bowl of frosting leftover that isn't bad but nobody will eat it

Two half-filled containers of my middle son's enteril nutrition (we have to feed him through a tube) that he wasn't able to finish and should be thrown out the same day.

I looked at the leeks. They almost went in too, but if I use them this weekend they will still be good. After this weekend they have to go.

We have a very full fridge. But my teenager always complains there is never anything to eat.

nothing, i just cleaned it out last weekend, or it would be a long list. at my house the dogs favorite game is 'what was it?' whoever guesses right gets to eat it. the dogs always guess 'food'.

The cheese and sour cream are kind of "iffy" right now. Hate to say it, but my ex actually thought sour cream could not go bad, "It's already sour".

    LOL!!!

Considering I no longer have my own fridge, I can honestly answer nothing.

But I cleaned out my parents' fridge Tuesday night in the process of making supper. Ewwww.

Now, if "my fridge" was a metaphor for my life, you might say I was in the process of cleaning it out. There's more good in my fridge than bad though ;-)

I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it might imcriminated me, and I'm scared to find out.
But the beer is not going to go bad, I know that.

      Fridges can hold other stuff????

On occasion you can wedge what's left of a pizza in there, but I wouldn't bet on it unless you took it out of the box first. and didn't care if it was scruntched up weird the next time you found it. But this depends on beer comsuption vs pizza leftovers, a constant variable, or, if you pefer, a variable constant - depending if you're drinking or eating, or contemplating doing both.
Sort of like looking through the Hubble telescope backwards.
It's a lot like standing on the ceiling, peeing, trying to get the stream in the toilet while chewing on a piece of cold pizza with your honey watching. A balancing act best left to professionals.

Just dumped out some milk. I got it cause I some times make coffee, but obviously not that often. Threw something else out, but can't remember what it was.

      0 at the moment.

If I had answered this post 3 hours ago, well, let's just say there were quite a few developed "biology experiments" going on in the fridge. Gregor Mendel would have been proud...

As the housewife at Gregor Mendel's crib, tell me oh kind sir, how long does Hamsi Ekmek (anchovy bread) last when refrigerated? I mean it's baked and salted right?

Ah....just the answers I expected (BARF!)

Rest assured Holden, these are Black Sea hamsi, way less salty than their Mediterranean counterparts. Quite tasty when fresh....which is vaguely defined as.....how long? Who knows...

I like anchovies! They have to be salted!

                I think they're tasty. MHO.

                Good with beer!

Probably an aquired taste. I think I only tried one little small one long ago. I never liked clams before either till I read they have aphrodisiac effects and met other people that love them. Muscles either. Now I LOVE muscles!!! I still don't think I could like anchovies and I'm supposed to watch my salt anyway.

I found a formerly really good loaf of bread (only 4 pieces eaten-and only 2 weeks old!) in the fridge earlier this afternoon --covered in mold. I actually debated for a couple of minutes whether or not the mold could be penicillin, but decided I'm too busy for science experiments right now so threw it in my composting pile.....

As the man ate his mussels, I could not help but notice his bulging muscles....

They serve mussels on the street here, on these little metal stands, lined up with lemons, out there on the street, sitting outside, all day, for hours, with their little lemons.....

I dare not. I dare not.

omg..I love veggies...and sometimes I forget to eat them. But I love the colors...I think I sometimes buy for for decorative reasons...occasionally my vegetables have gotten a little cold and have purchased themselves the cutest little fur coats...they seem to like the soft cotton looking ones..sometimes I find new items in my frigid that I just know I didn't purchase...like veggie soup or pudding,. Funny thing I;ve very neat and my apartment always looks ready for guest. The problem is I am an sponatous type...so i shop for veggies and stuff and i;ll cook for a few days in a row...then get bored...do a little take out...and then get bored and buy more veggies cause I love the smell of new veggies...again cook for a few days, completely forgetting I had already purchased veggies a few days ago....so I simply forget. so the bottom draw the veggie one...goodness I forget..then I remember and I get afraid to look. lol

One of my favorite fridges I've ever seen belonged to a bachelor friend of mine. It was completely spotless with neatly stacked rows of upscale alchoholic beverages. The only other thing resembling food in the house was Indian spices that his mother insisted he keep for cooking. Now that he's married, I wonder what the fridge looks like!

Not me. I have a fresh 40oz Bud I might drink tonight or save for tommorrow. Maybe 10 shots of Jim Beam and one 40 is enough for tonight. lol And I was supposed to have a bloodtest on wed or today and put it off till tommorrow but noow think it will be monday. Hmm. Should be interesting if I ever get serious about my very serious health issues. Does anyone have any fresh opium in their fridge they want to get rid of? : )

Nothing I got 4 dogs and they eat alot of scraps since the dog food scare. I also keep to simple meals and plan around a budget and do not buy many munchies or spoilable foods, I cook mostly from scratch beans rice legumes, the only veggie that ever rots tho is an onion. i like food to much to toss it out. Cleaning the fridge is a worse chore than laundry

I cry over waste!!!!! I support the freegans, They show how verywasteful this country is, Politicians are like rotting food, moldy smelly and basicaly time to throw them out!!! Just had to get that off my chest!!! And what's next in the personals Do you have dirty laundry piling up to the ceiling????
      • Re: be honest...

        Thu, January 3, 2008 - 11:03 AM
I also like what the freegans are doing. Reducing waste by claiming perfectly good food. Reducing consumerism by making use of what others don't want.

I'm a bit of a neat freak so I don't let anything go bad in the fridge that I share with others. If their food is going bad, I toss it, too.
