What did you do for Valentine's Day?

What did you get?
Did you get anything for yourself?
Did you have wine or special cocktails?
Did you do anything special to prepare?

Not really. I did some stuff earlier in the middle of January that I told her was for Valentine's Day since I wouldn't see her today.
I bought some jewelry for next year.
I got me a six pack and I'm going to go argue with an old computer somebody gave me.
Happy Valentine's Day to us, each and every.

Oh Snert, I like your V-day presents, but how can the jewelry be for next year? Do you hide it??

Nothing was done in our home, I guess I could have pushed it but as of this minute DH has been on the phone with work, when he's supposed to be off work. Oh well

Lisa, This stuff is not trendy, it's something that will be around long after I'm gone and forgotten
No, I don't have to hide it. I don't live with any of my honeys (except a cat or two) and they know not to get nosy in my private stuff when they visit.
An EXAMPLE! 'She' found the broach meant for my momma and cooed over it and stuff and then got pissed when I told her it was for my mother. 'She' is no longer around.

I can get so disappointed in the people I think that love me. And then the niece of a friend comes up and gives me a hand drawn Valentines Day picture and a hug and tells me she loves me 'cause I make her happy when I'm there. Cracked my heart right down the middle. Opened a place for her to crawl in, I guess,
I never knew she felt that way. Golly gee go whiz on a poodle wowi I think she's 5 or 6 - she's in Head Start.

'Deal with that, Patrick Alan, deal with that!'.
I never ceased to be astounded. I just look around and pay attention.

I bought boxes of chocolates and cards for my family, (husband and sons,) and sat with the young boys the night before helping them fill out their valentine cards for their classmates. I made little goody-bags of valentine treats for their classmates for the school valentine parties.

I gave little boxes of chocolates to the teachers and the school crossing guards, goofy little feathered novelty pens for the teachers, and small boxes of candy to my son's occupational and speech therapists. I think I spent about $75.00 on cards, candy and small gifts. It was so much fun, watching the expressions of pleasure when my sons gave out the candy.

By far the nicest gift I received was a cute little Valentine's Day pin that one of my sons made in class.

That night, we had a family meal together - buffalo burgers, salad. After the kids went to bed, my husband and I read a little, then I put on a DVD documentary about Elizabeth I, while my husband tightened one of his hand drums.

I was conked out on the couch by 10:00. I could hear my husband drumming as I dozed. Twenty years ago, it would have been wine and roses, dancing till dawn, and still making it to the office in stilletto heels the next morning.

Made chocolate Madelines for work, sandwiching them together with chocolate frosting and putting them on a bed of candy hearts. Called my honey in Hawaii since it’s our anniversary as well, had a nice long talk, then I cried like a baby. I miss him tons.

I got a valentine's card from my parents that was drenched in rain. The red from the envelope had stained the card, but there was a $100 check inside. I ate cookies at work. Someone I'm sorta long-distance dating sent me a photo catalogue of his apartment and himself trying to look sexy. We talked on the phone for 2 hours in the evening. My roommate hugged me when he got home from work, and asked me to be his valentine. Later that night, an ex called and wished me a happy valentine's day. He was going thru a train tunnel, and we got disconnected.

I'm ambivalent about everyone, I'm afraid.

    Didn't get anything.
Had an argument with the ex (on the phone about a response to my blog on Valentines Day), and then arrived at a job interview.
Got home to help my landlord tidy up a lot of garbage around my place (old carpet, wood, metalwork), he's had there since I've been there (I believe an insurance guy is coming around for his coverage), it was ok, I got to get rid of some of my junk too as he offered to take it.
    Ate some chocolate.
    Chatted online.

I guess my preparation was my resumé and breaking up a week ago.

As pathetic as it sounds I happen to be sick so I spent a lot of time on Valentines day in the bathroom on my knees - what fun -

I missed out on the family dinner and spending time and sleeping together - I was locked off alone and seperated because I felt so bad.

I don't know if things will get made up.

I brought in a bag of Ghirardelli dark chocolates for everyone at work. Even today I got thanks again, because dark chocolate just deserves two mentions!

For the evening, I was invited to a great party/art showing with a bunch of print creatives I had just met and was so looking forward to it... but by the end of my workday had come up with such a bad cold that I was completely unsociable and went home to bed instead.

I got lots of nice phone calls re: valentines that day also. Just hearing "Happy Valentines Day" makes me smile.

Not as much as a nice spot of sex does, but a smile nonetheless.

Hey, the other Jeff, you’ve given me a great idea. I’ve made soup for people with colds and used a cutter to shape veggies into hearts, but the sushi idea is great. I can cut squares out of salmon (pink) and pop out the hearts with a sharp cutter, then fill the squares with salmon caviar (red). The hearts can top other pieces. Thanks for working my noodles up, this should be fun!
